Follow-up After Treatment

Even when skin cancer has been completely removed and is thought to be cured, it can come back after treatment. Follow-up is important. If the cancer recurs, it usually appears in the first five years after treatment.

After treatment, you should check your skin monthly. A person who has had one skin cancer is at higher risk for developing another.

Remember too that it is still important for you to protect your skin from the sun.
